SEOUL, March 2 Asia Pulse - Foreign investors have booked a net buy of around 50 trillion won (US$49.7 billion) in South Korean shares since the Asian financial crisis in late 1997, increasing their presence in the local equity market, the Korea Exchange said Wednesday.
According to the exchange, foreign investors have bought a net 49.78 trillion won in South Korean shares since 1998, with the value of their holdings amounting to 195.8 trillion won as of Monday, or 42.3 per cent of total market capitalization.
In 2003, their net buy was a record 12.77 trillion won and the figure was 10.48 trillion won last year.
