Tokyo, Feb. 28 (Jiji Press)--Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is considering realigning its sales network in Japan possibly by March 2006 to revamp flagging domestic sales, President Osamu Masuko said in an interview with Jiji Press on Monday.

"The 34 sales companies that are wholly owned by Mitsubishi Motors call for further streamlining," Masuko said, indicating that the struggling Japanese automaker may create umbrella organizations region by region to take over bookkeeping and other clerical work from the sales companies in order to cut costs.

If such a step is taken, it would be the first realignment of the domestic sales network by Mitsubishi Motors since the integration of the Car Plaza and Galant dealerships in 2003.
