Principals chalk out punishment guidelines.

MUMBAI: More than 25 principals and representatives of schools assembled at the Children's Welfare Centre at Versova on Thursday to express solidarity with its principal, Ajay Kaul, and to address the issue of corporal punishment. Kaul, an active mohalla committee member, was recently in the eye of a storm after he slapped a girl student to discipline her.

"Our meeting was to focus on the issue of corporal punishment. What happened was quite unfortunate and could have happened with any of us. It is for the parents to realise that a teacher is a guide and will never do something to hamper a child's future," said principal Asha D'sa …
