New worry for parents over poor monitoring in creches.

NEW rules governing the standard of care given to children in creches may still be inadequate, with health officials now seeking that toddlers left in care be monitored every 10 minutes.

The revelation is certain to send alarm bells ringing among parents concerned about the standard of care being given to their children while in day care.

Health care officials have revealed that while creches are registered and subject to inspection, there are "no rules" at present for the time-monitoring of infants or toddlers placed in such premises during the day while parents go to work.
