Section: General News - Foreign Minister Surakiart Sathirathai today played down the apparent dissatisfaction of the international Muslim community over Thailand's handling of the southern insurgency, insisting that the Organization of Islamic Conferences (OIC) appear to have a good understanding of the government's position.
His comments come after the publication of remarks on the OIC website, suggesting concern over the violence experienced by Muslims in Thailand's southern border region.
But today Mr. Surakiart stressed that Thailand had not been singled out for the comments, which he said were intended as an expression of concern for Muslims worldwide, and as a show of moral support for governments attempting to solve violence by peaceful means.
