Mr. Makoto Harada, Bureau Chief of NHK Bangkok, told the forum that Japan-based NHK has been well-prepared for the significant task.
He gave a CD presentation showing that NHK offices in Japan are connected with Meteorological agencies and disaster warning centres, enabling the leading Japanese broadcaster to announce any imminent disasters, including earthquakes and consequent tsunamis, within a couple of minutes through its radio and television channels.
