Section: General News - There has been further violence in Thailand's three southern-most provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani.

A former soldier was shot dead early on Saturday morning near a market in Pattani province.

The victim was killed by two unidentified gunmen on a motorbike, as he and his wife were travelling home from the market, according to the local police.
