Section: Corporate News - TOT Corp Plc's board has put off a decision on whether to launch a fresh round of bidding for its massive fixed-line expansion project until next month so that it can consider the legal implications of accepting new quotes, The Nation reports.

TOT president Teerawit Charuwat said that the board would make a decision on the matter on March 2.

A decision on whether there would be a fresh bid was originally slated for yesterday.

A TOT board source said the board needed time to carefully examine the legal implications of green-lighting a new bid.

"The board has to examine if the winning consortium can take legal action against it if there is a new bid," the source said.

The Siemens-Thai Mark Solution Technology consortium won the bid last year by quoting Bt7.5 billion to provide fixed-line equipment to TOT as part of its plan to introduce 565,000 new phone numbers nationwide.
