Last month has been one of the most unusual pre-budget months in the stock markets over the past many years.

Against the usual pre-budget euphoria and booming indices, markets have been cautious and subdued in the run-up to this year's budget. Therefore, as the finance minister rises to present next year's Union Budget, markets would keenly watch for pointers to the future.
