Sudan: Friday sermon urges Muslims to unite against "polytheists".

The Friday sermon on 25 February was broadcast live on Sudanese TV at 1030 gmt from Al-Shahid Mosque in Khartoum. The imam was Al-Shaykh Abd-al-Jalil al-Nadhir-al-Karuri. President Umar al-Bashir and the interior minister were among those who attended the prayers.

Vaccination of children

The first sermon lasted 20 minutes and dealt with religious matters. However, during the sermon, the imam also touched on the importance of vaccinating children.

He said: "The [Federal] Ministry of Health asked us [imams] to ask you, during today's sermon, to take your children for vaccination in order to protect them from diseases. Vaccination means giving the body a defensive …
