Narathiwat _ More soldiers will be deployed to southern villages classified as "red zones" to carry out community relations campaigns and development work.

Provincial governor Pracha Terat said "red" villages, which are considered sympathetic to insurgents, would be given special attention. Soldiers tasked with development would attempt to work closely with residents and persuade them to give more cooperation to state agencies.

The same tactic would be applied in villages classified as yellow and green zones, but the number of soldiers would be smaller.
