Yes, you can "just leave it all," but in today's modern world it is really hard to leave it all behind. You have to be really motivated and decide at what degree or level you want to "just leave it all."

My advice is to buy the land or homestead, and start developing as much as you can afford while you are still gainfully employed. Start parting with the material things you are willing to give up, and living the "simple" life. Save what ever amount of money, you can. Begin looking for ways to make extra income once you "leave it all" ...
