JOHN BRACEWELL has taken a swipe at critics of cricket's new hybrid Twenty20.

The New Zealand coach is confident both spectators and players will be won over by the hit and giggle game which debuts in New Zealand when the Black Caps face Australia at Eden Park in Auckland on Thursday night.

Former New Zealand captain Jeremy Coney has labelled the concept a "gimmick" and said the success of the game in England, South Africa and Australia "can't disguise that Twenty20 is a flirtation with the essence of the game".
