Though Shaquille O'Neal's footwork (or, as he calls it, "feetwork") is exceptional, it does not rate with the league's best, according to an informal survey of big men conducted by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Footwork is a skill that Bob McAdoo, Hall of Fame player and Heat assistant coach, believes is instinctual. Others disagree, saying that a player can develop good footwork through practice. O'Neal, owner of some of the largest feet (22 EEE) to step on a basketball court, says his nimble footwork comes from dancing. "As a young guy, I was a break dancer, and I used to do everything the small guys used to do," O'Neal says.
