Political desk: The report about the visit of Abu-Mazin [Mahmud Abbas], the president of the Palestinian Authority, to Iran has been received with two different reactions by the two political factions in Iran. Some people have described the cease-fire signed by Abu-Mazin and [Ariel] Sharon as a compromise [sazesh, compromise or surrender], while others have pointed out that the Palestinian people are turning towards peace and security.
Masha'allah Shamsolva'ezin believes that Abu-Mazin 's visit contains a message [by Iran] to Tel Aviv and Washington, namely to declare that Iran is in agreement with the recent step taken by the Palestinian people in electing their leader. However, Hoseyn Allahkaram, an expert in strategic issues from the neo-conservative camp, believes that what Abu-Mazin did was a successful political move for him, but a move that was against the principles and aspirations of the Imam [Khomeyni] (may he rest in peace).
