TAIPEI, Oct 2 Asia Pulse - Taiwan is expected to post a trade surplus of US$20.37 billion for 2006, up from US$15.82 billion last year, according to a report released Saturday by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).
Officials at the ministry's Bureau of Foreign Trade noted that Taiwan's exports were valued at US$55.82 billion in the second quarter of 2006, up 13.89 per cent from the same time last year, while imports were valued at US$51.51 billion - up 9.76 per cent year-on-year.
The trade surplus amounted to US$4.31 billion in the second quarter of 2006, compared to US$2.1 billion during the same time last year, the officials said.
