BEIJING, Oct 2 Asia Pulse - Competition in China's car market is expected to become increasingly fiercer in the fourth quarter of this year when a large-scale price war is likely. An expert with the China Automotive Technology Research Center blamed the acceleration of competition in the car market to many factors including launch of a big number of new car models, increase of auto inventory, and in turn break of price balance.

At a recent symposium, the expert said that domestic carmakers have launched about 20 new models this year, and several more are expected to be put on the market in the last three months of the year. Furthermore, about 100 modified models have been put on the market. The emergence of new models has narrowed the market space for the existing models, forcing them to promote sales by cutting prices and in turn trigger ...
