SEOUL, Oct 2 Asia Pulse - South Korea plans to build a new power plant fired by liquefied natural gas (LNG) in an eastern region of the country in an effort to raise electricity reserves.
The envisioned plant will be built in Yeongwol, about 200 kilometers southeast of Seoul, at a cost of 620 billion won (US$655 million), the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy said.
It will be able to generate 900,000 kilowatts of electricity at maximum capacity.
Work on the plant is expected to begin in April 2008 for completion in November 2010, the ministry said.
