SEOUL, Oct. 2 Asia Pulse - South Korea's top electronics manufacturer Samsung Electronics Co. and rival LG Electronics Inc. saw their shares in the domestic small laptop computer market jump in the second quarter of this year as their wide-screen displays successfully attracted customers, industry sources said Sunday.
According to a report by market researcher IDC, the companies' combined share in the market leaped to 60.6 per cent in the second quarter from 46.3 per cent in the previous quarter. A small notebook computer refers to one with a screen size of 12 inches or less.
Samsung saw its sales of smaller notebook computers reach about 13,000 units in the second quarter, while LG sold an estimated 7,500 units during the same period, it said.
