Borsa Italiana board to meet next week to examine Deutsche Boerse tie-up.

MILAN (AFX) - Borsa Italiana SpA, which manages the Milan bourse, will hold a board meeting next week to approve preliminary plans for a merger with Deutsche Boerse AG, the daily Finanza & Mercati said on Saturday citing Borsa Italiana chairman Angelo Tantazzi.
The alliance is aimed at forming a pan-European bourse that Euronext NV could join.
Euronext operates the Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels and Lisbon stock exchanges as well as the London derivatives market LIFFE. The company also a 51 pct stake in the Italian fixed-income exchange MTS.
