TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Japan's ruling party is to invite Chinese officials this month to examine a possible summit between Tokyo and Beijing which has been suspended since April last year, a party official said.

"The ruling party is preparing an environment suitable to holding a summit with China," said Hidenao Nakagawa, secretary-general of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), the highest post after the party presidency which is held by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

"We will invite in mid-October some ten Chinese officials who are responsible for practical business affairs of a possible summit, to discuss the issue between ruling parties of the both countries," he said in an interview with the public broadcaster NHK.
