TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - The Bank of Japan's (BoJ) economic outlook report due out this month is expected to forecast annual growth in the consumer price index of 0.4-0.5 pct for fiscal 2007, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun has reported.
The central bank sees the CPI, excluding perishables, growing 0.2-0.3 pct in the current fiscal year.
By projecting a gradual inflationary trend into next fiscal year, the BoJ will lay the groundwork for a possible rate hike.
The latest semiannual report, to be released on Oct 31, is the first since the BoJ ended its zero-rate policy in July.
