S. KOREAN IT FIRMS EXPECT IMPROVEMENT IN BUSINESS CONDITIONS
SEOUL - Business sentiment for South Korea's information technology (IT) sector remained low, but local IT firms are hoping that conditions will slightly improve in the coming months, a survey showed Friday.
According to the survey by the Korea Association of Information and Telecommunication, the IT business survey index (BSI) stood at 80 in August, down from 81 in the previous month, due mainly to high oil prices and a strong local currency against the U.S.
IBM AWARDED US$150 MLN CONTRACT BY AUSTRALIA'S IMMIGRATION DEPT
SYDNEY - Australia's Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA) has signed a $A200 million (US$149.51 million) contract with IBM for a major programme of business transformation.
The programme, entitled `Systems for People' was announced in this year's Budget, following independent reviews into the department's business information needs and record management practices, a DIMA release said today.
