ORLANDO -- Sutures and drains are associated with equal rates of wound complications when used in the subcutaneous management of vertical incisions in women with more than 3 cm of subcutaneous fat after abdominal wall closure of vertical midline incisions, according to a prospective, randomized controlled trial.
A nonsignificant trend toward benefit with subcutaneous suture use was noted, Dr. Richard J. Cardosi said at the annual meeting of the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
