Sep. 27--MOCKSVILLE -- Gov. Mike Easley announced in July that Amarr Garage Doors would open a plant in Davie County, creating 143 jobs over three years. The plant won't open until January, but already news that well-paying, stable manufacturing jobs are coming has generated a flood of applications.
About 700 people have applied for the jobs with Amarr through the N.C. Employment Security Commission, said David Davis, the branch manager for the commission's Davie County office.
The company, based in Winston-Salem, makes and distributes residential and commercial garage doors and has annual sales of more than $300 million.
