Shanny gets blindsided

After Cincinnati's Tony Williams broke his ankle on a hit by Denver's George Foster, Mike Shanahan came under extreme fire around the league tar encouraging his linemen to use the 2chop block. This outraged the Broncos coach, who thought the attacks were personal, malicious and way off base. In other words, Shanahan didn't like getting hit below the belt. You know, like a chop block.

And now a Buckeye shot

Craig Krenzel became just the second rookie QB to start an NFL game this season, getting the call even before hotshots Eli Manning and Philip Rivers. Krenzel swore he wasn't nervous leading up to his big debut, presumably because the Bears' system is very similar to the one he ran at Ohio State. Both teams like to me the pass to set up the punt.

Hitting your target

In the exhibition season alone, Ray Allen and Kobe spoke menacingly about each other; Brendan Haywond, Eddy Curry and Antonio Davis got suspended for throwing punches, and Paul Pierce was fined for spitting in the direction of an opponent's bench. Well, that's one way to court the bored NHL fan.
