SS Roy Williams has not been a difference-maker because the team has had to use him in coverage so much to compensate for their weakness at right corner. Williams is more dominant the closer he plays to the line. This season, he has one tackle for loss and no interceptions, fumble recoveries, forced fumbles or sacks. In 2003, he had 12 of those types of plays.... The team acquired WR Quincy Morgan from the Browns for WR Antonio Bryant. Morgan struggled with drops in Cleveland, but the Cowboys think that issue can be solved with better technique and focus. Morgan will be used outside in three-receiver sets. OFFENSIVE SYSTEM CHECK: The team has taken advantage of FB Richie Anderson's patient style on draws and traps out of three-receiver sets. He is averaging more than 5 yards per carry and has six runs of 10 yards or more with only 30 carries. The team's red zone problems have become a chronic issue. Some players would like to see a change in approach as much as personnel. The tight formations and runs up the middle have not worked well. It might be time to spread the field and run out of that formation, or try to connect on more short passes to TE Jeremy Shockey and other receivers.... When they signed veteran FS Brent Alexander, the Giants viewed him as a savvy ballhawk they needed in their secondary. He has a knack for anticipating where a quarterback will throw, and is especially adept at reading the passer's eyes. He has been a valuable mentor to rookie SS Gibril Wilson. OFFENSIVE SYSTEM CHECK: There have been fewer downfield passes than anticipated. One reason is that the team has emphasized ball security. QB Kurt Warner has only two interceptions, but they were costly ones in the red zone. At times, the inability to protect Warner has made it tough to throw long.
