As a proud member of the 2003 fraternity known as "Cowboy Up," I was like the rest of the nation--Red Sox Nation, that is. I could not believe what I saw in the last four games of this year's Red Sox-Yankees series.

With all that goes into today's game--high-tech preparations, advance scouting and specialized roles in the bullpens--how can any team come back from an 0-3 hole to win the A.L. pennant? That never should have happened. And against the Yankees, to boot. In this day and are of finding blame, why can't people just take their hats off to the Red Sox instead of going on about what happened to the Yankees?

There might have been some situations that could have gone the Yankees' way, but they didn't. In one game, Mariano Rivera showed he was human. Other than that, the Red Sox, for the most part, simply beat the Yankees. They won two games in extra innings, then Curt Schilling did his thing, and then the Red Sox scored 10 runs in Game 7. That was that. What the Red Sox did as a team is what this game is all about.

So now they're in the World Series. What about that curse? The players' official stance is that there is no curse. Some people believe that the curse has been broken since the Red Sox beat the Yankees.

In my time in Boston, the curse didn't come up until Game 7. Before Game ...
