From peewees to pros, from midgets to Madison Square Garden, from CYO to "See-my-new-Escalade," there are two voices that guide a coach. The first is that little one inside his head, which constantly assures him that he is, in fact, a hoops genius who would make Jim Naismith proud. The second comes from the stands--often as part of a chorus--continually reminding the coach that he is a drooling Neanderthal, incapable of rational thought. As with everything, the truth lies somewhere in between.
