The Steelers, Patriots, Eagles and Falcons. These four teams were the best in their respective conferences during the regular season, and they showed the most backbone again last weekend as they advanced to within one game of Super Bowl 39.

There was the Steelers' defense (page 14) allowing the Jets' offense only three points and keeping Pittsburgh in the game so it could escape life support to breathe another day. There were the Patriots continuing their ridiculous mastery over Peyton Manning and the Colts, resolutely refusing to let one of the best offenses in NFL history get a sniff of the end zone.

And there were the Falcons and Eagles dispensing with a pair of 8-8 ...
