Love is in the air. Or is that just the sound of cash registers ringing at Hallmark stores, floral shops and candlelit romantic restaurants everywhere, in anticipation of Valentine's Day?

Home-video outlets, of course, are getting in on the holiday action, too, with a handful of releases celebrating romance.

An elderly couple, played by screen veterans James Garner and Gena Rowlands, look back on the traumas and dramas of their early years together in "The Notebook" (New Line, $27.95; VHS, priced for rental), directed by Nick Cassavetes, the son of Rowlands and the late John Cassavetes.
