But to his credit, he also gave us years of much-loved children's programmes.

Now, Rick Vanes has embarked on a new career - telling the world about the great things happening at Allerton Grange High School in Moortown, Leeds.

Rick, who has lived in Roundhay for more than 30 years, has become the city's first "Success Co-ordinator." His job is to promote achievement within the 1,800-pupil school and help drive standards to a new level.
