Being interrupted by an email can be a welcome interruption and make stressed workers more productive, new research has suggested.
A survey of workers was carried out at a multi-national blue chip company, a charity and a consultancy, and found that email interruptions could actually boost productivity.
Emma Russell, a research student at the University of Surrey, said the findings were "surprising", especially coming from people working in a stressful job.
