Apples are good for you, have a flavor favored by lots of kids and adults, and are inexpensive. So a company called Grapple Fruits has decided to improve them. The Grapple ("say Grape-L," the Web site instructs) is a Washington state apple with artificial grape flavoring. Specifically, the copy states, "The apple is bathed through a patented process and in a few days the entire apple takes on the essence and mouth-watering taste of Concord grapes."
