Sep. 26--Cheaper gas getting easy to find C Consumers can benefit big time in Winston-Salem these days if they shop around for the best gasoline prices.

Prices, which have been heading down overall, are all over the place -- unusually so. A ride around town mid-week to more than 25 service stations revealed a wide range. Several stations offered a gallon of regular unleaded gas below $2.30, but the average price was about $2.36. The cheapest was $2.18 and the highest was $2.43, a 25-cent difference. In some cases, prices varied from 4 cents to 12 cents at stations less than 2 miles from each other, and as much as 11 cents at stations …
