A growing number of schools are hosting campus welcome events that include dogs of faculty and staff.

Naturally, a woman had the idea. A few years ago, Kathy Bradley, director of the Health and Counseling Center at Pennsylvania's Gettysburg College, saw an article about psychologists using pets to help de-stress students. She had just gotten two new pups and wanted to help her then employer, Susquehanna University PA, to improve retention.
