* In Texas, a Del Mar college employee reported that she was demoted and her contract was not extended after did her job: She followed up on a student's sexual harassment complaint against the school's president.
In her court petition, Theresa Cox said that she was demoted after she began to look into the complaint against Carlos Garcia and that her one-year contract was not renewed. Cox had directed the college's Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action, Equity, Access and Compliance office.
Her petition alleged that the school is in violation of the Texas Whistleblower Act, which protects employees from retaliation from reporting suspected law violations.
