Sep. 21--WEST PALM BEACH -- Kathy Foster credits her many successes to her greatest loss.
A business owner and top executive of a nonprofit group, Foster said it all began when her 5-year-old son Christian died in 1980 from spinal meningitis.
"Chris made me realize that every day has to have a purpose. That took me from being a country club wife to finding things that could make a difference," said Foster, 59.
Foster's efforts helped earn her the 2006 Athena Award, which was presented Wednesday by the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches.
