Students at women's colleges have advantages over peers at coed schools, according to a study by the Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research (IUCPR).
Researchers found that students at women's schools spend more time on productive activities, so they gain more from their college experience than women at coed institutions. They also found that women's colleges:
* Offer more challenging academic experiences leading to more integrative learning
* Provide more support for success
* Are more "transfer-friendly" for students
* Encourage more student-faculty interaction
* Design classroom experiences so students cooperate with peers, actively participating in class
