AS WE WRITE, there is a ceasefire, however unsatisfactory, in operation between Israel and Hezbollah/Lebanon. Few really expect this to last, since it is impossible to imagine Hezbollah restraining its more fanatical members (although relativity between fanatics is a debatable matter) from resuming some kind of aggression against Israel. Most people are relieved however that for the time being the worst of the violence has ceased.
