PRAGUE, Jan 3 (CTK) - It will be hardly possible to do without new prisons because the number of prisoners has been growing and a further growth is expected mainly in connection with organised crime, prison service head Kamila Meclova told today's issue of daily Pravo.
It may be impossible to maintain the state where each prisoner has minimally four square metres as required, Meclova said. She added there are not the necessary funds to build new prisons.
Besides, the number of prisoners grows, while the number of guards has been reduced.
