(From Yorkshire Evening Post)
BY KATIE BALDWIN THEY'VE gone through more in their young lives than many do in a lifetime and the bravery of these two West Yorkshire girls has proved inspirational.
The pair have been named young heroes by a national charity.
Lauren Corker and Alison Davey were honoured at the National Kidney Research Fund's Young Hero Awards for achievements which include inspiring their families, fundraising for charity and working hard at school despite spending much time in hospital.
Until this summer Lauren Corker was a healthy schoolgirl.
But in July the 10-year-old was suddenly taken very ill.
Doctors said she had contracted the bacterium E Coli and a few weeks later realised this had seriously damaged Lauren's kidneys.
