Richard Sutcliffe PETER JACKSON has backed Huddersfield Town striker Pawel Abbott to pass the 25-goal mark this season as League One's two leading scorers prepare to go head-to-head today.

The former Poland Under-21 international has netted 15 League goals this season, five fewer than Hull City's Stuart Elliott who he will line up against today. Abbott, who scored in Town's 4-0 win over the Tigers in September, has scored three in his last five games and Jackson is hoping for more of the same at the KC Stadium.

The Terriers manager said: "I have been delighted with Pawel this season. He came in to replace Jonathan Stead earlier this year and has not let me down.

"Paw is a fine goalscorer and should easily pass the 25-goal mark this season. One of the most pleasing things about Paw is that even if he misses a chance, he never hides. That is an important quality in a striker." Elliott did not face Huddersfield earlier this season due to being away on international duty with Northern Ireland but Jackson is well aware of the winger's threat.

He said: "Elliott's goal tally is even more remarkable due to where he plays. He is a very good player but we won't man-mark him or anything like that. We will concentrate on our own game." Former Huddersfield striker Delroy Facey is likely to start for the Tigers today after being rested for the midweek victory over Doncaster Rovers.
