(From Yorkshire Post)
Richard Sutcliffe WHEN A footballer who has scored 27 League goals in the past 12 months says he is hoping for an even better 2005 it smacks of pure greed.
But when the man in question is Hull City winger Stuart Elliott it is easy to understand why he is looking forward to the coming year with such eager anticipation.
The Tigers are today looking to start 2005 with a seventh consecutive League victory when Huddersfield Town visit the KC Stadium. Three points coupled with defeat for Luton Town against Sheffield Wednesday at Kenilworth Road will be enough to see Peter Taylor's side go top of League One for the first time this season and seemingly on course for a second successive promotion.
That would be more than enough to keep any footballer happy but Northern Ireland international Elliott also has the mouth-watering prospect of two World Cup qualifiers against England in the coming months.
League One's top scorer said: "It really is a case of 'happy days' at the moment. We know there are no medals handed out in December but things are going well at Hull City.
"We had nearly 25,000 fans at the Doncaster game, which is amazing for a cold Wednesday night, and it looks like being a similar crowd against Huddersfield. This is a city crying out for success and hopefully this year we can give the fans what they deserve.
