PRAGUE, Jan 1 (CTK) - Miroslav Kalousek, chairman of the junior government Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL), told CTK today that he considers President Vaclav Klaus's New Year's speech as exceptionally good.
"I don't remember hearing any New Year's speech that I would like as much as this particular one. It was well balanced, it was statesmanlike, it named, I believe, the fundamental priorities of this society, it was sufficiently optimistic and encouraging," Kalousek said.
He mainly praised Klaus for having called for humbleness, solidarity and respect for the family and old age.
Miroslav Grebenicek, chairman of the junior opposition Communists (KSCM), said for his part that Klaus's speech was quite good.
"I am convinced that the president addressed a substantial part of citizens of the Czech Republic, and I would even say that citizens in their majority will accept the speech favourably," Grebenicek told CTK.
