TEASED AND TANGLED Enjoying the summer evening sitting on a cast-iron seat in Curtin's delightful village square, I watched as a young boy, consuming a packet of crisps, walked past two young boxers (of the canine variety) moored to a similar solid seat.
They leapt up as he neared, startling him into dropping a few crisps which they promptly devoured.
He was momentarily non-plussed, and then slowly circled the seat holding the crisps just beyond the straining necks. After three or four circuits the dogs were reduced to a few inches of free leash and in danger of self-strangulation.
With a smirk, he carefully placed a few crisps just beyond their anxious faces, and left.
M. H. MacKenzie-Orr Hughes CITY OF FORMER GARDENS Actew has issued a report which Jon Stanhope would probably prefer not to hear (CT, Dec 23, p1). Without a new and permanent source of water this city will face very severe restrictions and the issue is much more urgent than previously thought.
Stanhope wants the issue discussed in the community. He should stop leisurely discussion, choose a site and get work started.
