LAST month's ceremonial activation of Christmas lanterns and tivoli lights (festive lighting) at a landscaped garden in Marikina comes as a symbolic moment for the city that intends to be a future global one.

Within the garden area, the Metrobank Group, through its member Federal Land Inc., is scheduled to inaugurate the first phase of a P5-billion masterplanned community involving a commercial center and medium-rise condominium development.

To be known as Marquinton (short for Marikina Town Center), the property is located on Sumulong Highway (next to Toyota Marikina Showroom) and Fernando Avenue in Marikina City.

Prime potential area

Marquinton is considered a prime potential area for commercial developments and restaurant businesses because of its proximity to the residential areas, hospital and sports complex.
