(From Philippine Daily Inquirer)
Byline: Pinky B. Cruz
OH well, I am succumbing to everyone's fetish every year, that is, to lay down one's resolutions for the year 2005. Way before the days turn to mindless strings of concerns, enjoin me in my annual tradition of must-dos and must-nots.
And so, to provide for me the idyllic setting, I packed my bag after Christmas and took off to the hills. I only have with me a Christmas gift from my brother-a book on quotations and reflections on timeless values. The soothing, cool, pine-scented breeze has captivated me. With a "banig" (sleeping mat) laid on the grassy grounds of Camp John Hay, I did what I could not dare do in Manila-spread my back, and languidly stare at the skies and observe how even with sharing the glory with the tallest pine trees, it commands gracefully. I gave in to nature's gentle reins to empty my jaded mind and to free my spirit.
As a designer dealing with different households, design challenges and a myriad of personalities, I vow this coming year to:
Take my heart to work
Who doesn't relish the heady feeling of a work well done? But I have the tendency to view it apart from the stirrings of my heart, and so I lose engine quite often. I need to discipline my mind to integrate what I believe in all aspects of my life including work.
