THE OIL tanker, Jahre Viking, is the world's largest ship of any kind. The vessel, formerly known as the Happy Giant and Seawise Giant, has a length of 458.45 meters (or 1,504 feet) and a width of 68.9 meters. Due to its expansiveness, the Jahre Viking can best travel in a straight line, a reason it cannot also pass through the 32-mile-wide English Channel when fully laden.
