CATHOLIC Church leaders yesterday urged Filipinos not to let their hope for a better year be swept away by the calamities that struck the Philippines and South Asia the past year.
In its New Year's message, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines hailed the Filipino families' resilience and ability to remain optimistic despite past tragedies.
"While doomsayers look at 2005 with cynical and pessimistic eyes ... our families look at it, as Christians have been doing for centuries, with a hope that is not quenched by myriad forms of violence and evil," CBCP president Davao Archbishop Fernando Capalla said.
